We had a blast on our last field trip of the year… Tulsa Zoo!!
It is really a study trip… our students go on a scavenger hunt to find all the things we
have learned about!
Kristine Weyher grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1994. I married my husband, Todd, in 1994 and we have two girls. Katherine was born in 2000 and Emma in 2006. I have been teaching for 17 years and have loved nearly every minute of it! In 2006, I became a Nationally Board Certified Teacher and yes, that means I was pregnant while I was working on it! What can I say? I LOVE a challenge! I love my family, shopping, creating curriculum and my church a whole big bunch!
About Kelly
Kelly Parrott grew up in Florence, Alabama and graduated from Freed Hardeman in 1989. She married David in 1989 and they have two boys. Grant was born in 1998 and Griffin was born in 2002. During the summer of 2012, David and Kelly added their nieces Sammi and Sydney to their family after their parents passed away. They are now a forever family of six. Kelly has been teaching for 18 years (she took a few years off to be a mommy) and she has a strong passion for teaching! In 2011, she became a Nationally Board Certified Teacher too! She loves her family, shopping, Alabama football (yes, Kristine loves it too!) and church… she does not love creating curriculum quite as much as I do but she LOVES to come up with ideas for me to create!

About US
We met in 1996 while working at a “teacher store”, The Apple Tree, in Tulsa. My first teaching job was at Kelly’s school… no, she didn’t get me my first job but it was nice to know somebody when I started! We were friends but not close friends at all and our teaching styles were TOTALLY opposite! Let’s just say I have greatly evolved since then! Kelly moved to back Alabama a few years later and we didn’t talk again until she moved back to Oklahoma in 2004. I DID get Kelly her teaching job in Broken Arrow when she came back to teaching in 2005! We have now been teaching kindergarten together for 8 years straight. We are more like sisters than friends now. Our families are interwoven and we trust each other with everything. Kelly and I have nearly the same philosophy about teaching. Three years ago, we “created” Our Smart Community. It is a deeply collaborative, content-rich environment where we teach our combined students through literacy-based, thematic curriculum designed by us! It is the most powerful teaching we have EVER experienced and our expectations continue to grow! Beyond school, we spend time together at church, with our families and enjoying Alabama football each fall! We are stronger together than apart which is why we continue to grow as teachers every day! We welcome your questions about collaboration and we love sharing with you about our daily adventures in Our Smart Community!
