100 Days Smarter and Ten Frames!

During February, we have been learning about landforms and the United Statesincluding symbols and presidents. We also just celebrated our 100th Day of Kindergarten. We are definitely 100 days smarter! Our students dressed up like they were 100 years oldSTINKIN’ PRECIOUS! We had a variety of activities and decided to do a whole week around the “100” theme this year because there were many things we wanted to teach! J

Each day, we meet for our morning meeting in Kelly’s room literally 3 steps away from our room (LOVE THATwaited years for it). It lasts 45 minutes to an hour depending on what we are doing that day. It is centered around our theme and always literacy-based.  In the afternoon (new this year J), we meet in my room for our math meeting. We do calendar together which is also literacy-based but focuses on math and social studies. Our calendar file (for the Smartboard) is now 17 pages long so we spend about 20 to 25 minutes together. After calendar, we usually have a math lesson and lately, we have been working a lot with Ten Frames. Yesterday, we decided to pair our students for our new Marvelous Math Tubs that start next week and do a FUN Ten Frame activity all together. We ventured out into the pod area and jumped right in. The students had a blast!! Of course, they LOVE anything hands-on and new!

I have to take a sec to say how much I genuinely love to watch Kelly teach. I snapped a couple of pics of her teaching the calendar last week I usually do it and it was a joy to watch her. She is such a natural teacher and it makes me so proud to collaborate with an amazing teacher each day. I know, CHEESY but it is true! J
